Well, I hope the rest of the UK crew enjoyed it as much as I did...it was definitely worth the eight-year wait, even if the set did lean a bit too heavily on SL&RNR. Band were on great form, plenty of amusing quips from Mr Ness. Setlist included (not all in order):

Reach For The Sky
Highway 101
Under My Thumb
Mommy's Little Monster
Sometimes I Do
Prison Bound
Send Her Back
Nickels And Dimes
Sick Boy
1945
Diamond In The Rough
It's Alright
Footprints On My Ceiling
Ring Of Fire
Story Of My Life.

I briefly met the guys afterwards - very friendly they are too - and left London a happy man

Mike got some kid onstage before DITR, who acted like a total asshole, more interested in giving shout-outs to his crew and acting tough than actually listening to anything Mike was saying. He then did the worst stagedive ever!

Oh, and I was slightly perturbed to see a couple of 'hate-edge' tattoos in the pit, as I believe hate-edge is a nazi/white-pride type of straight-edge? it's a shame the band didn't play 'Don't Drag Me Down', the irony would not have been lost...

As for the support...Backyard Babies were very good, Cooper were fairly average.

Here's hoping we won't have to wait as long for the next visit!

Thanks for your report, the setlist really doesn?t sound too promising for me as I?d like to hear more stuff from Prison Bound and SBHAH. Anyways, I?ll be at the gig in Amsterdam on monday, we?ll see if the change the setlist maybe.

Any word on the merchandise in London? Did they sell the Dickies worker jacket?

Unfortuantly they were not selling the workers jacket at the Astoria, but it was a great gig and here is the setlist in order for anybody who wants it:

Reach For The Sky
Highway 101
Under My Thumb
Mommy's Little Monster
Lude Boy
1945
Sick Boy
Diamonds In The Rough
Don't Take Me For Granted
Prison Bound
Send Her Back
Sometimes I Do
Nickels And Dimes
Footprints On My Ceiling
Ring Of Fire
Story Of My Life

Hope this helps.

Kev.

It was such an amazing gig! (I cried during Diamond in the Rough ) hehe I was at the barrier the whole time, thanks to the guys who tried to help me not be so squashed! haha it was so amazing, met the guys after wards! Meeting Mike was just a dream come true to me!
The dude that Mike got up on stage was odd, and his bloody stage dive happened to be right on to my head!! But still I held onto the barrier for dear life! I thought the set was amazing, and I was well impressed that they playes 'sometimes I do' and that california blues rock song or whatever mike called it was well good! Kinda annoying that I had security leaning over me to get crowd surfers everytime Mike spoke! Ah well I still loved every minute of it and i'm like the happiest person in the world!

Oh and I wanted to kill whatever cunt threw that beer can that hit Mike at the beginning of the set!

Glad to hear the show went well!

The hate-edge thing is really straight-edge that uses violence and intimidation to get their point across. The straight-edge movement was and still is against violence. Hate-edge is against drinking, drugs, promiscuous sex, and have no problem getting violent about it. They have been known to beat the shit out of skins or punks simply for smoking a cigarette or drinking a beer. It's really just a very lame excuse for violence.

The hate-edge thing is associated with the white-pride nazi skins (they were called war skins in San Diego) because both groups are so violent and some people can't really differenciate between the two, so their straight-edge message is lost once the first punch is thrown.

I wouldn't worry about not being allowed to take your camera in - even the photographers weren't allowed to use flash, so with a normal camera it would have been impossible to get any decent pictures. It was a fantastic show though! Wish they'd come back!

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial">Hey, i'm the guy that was waiting in the queue right next to you and your friends.

How long did you have to wait to meet them? I waited around outside for half an hour then got the train home.

That was such an amazing gig and after waiting 6 years it was everything i'd hoped it would be.

I was absolutely GUTTED that they didnt play Dont Drag me Down. I'd really hoped theyd play that, its probably my favourite song of all time.

Apart from that, the only downside was getting covered in beer by cunts throwing cans and security guards climbing over me to get crowd surfers out occasionally.

Heres hoping now they know they have a relatively big fanbase over here, theyll play here more often.
